Jamie Johnson opened his front door and I stepped into his living room as two Boston Terriers lunged toward me, barking their little heads off. "They don't bite," he assured me, smiling. Jamie bribed Sueme and Rosie Bouquet with treats to distract them, while he and I descended into the basement rec room for our interview.

At the International Bluegrass Music Association's annual convention in 2004, rumors spread about a bunch of young guys playing intense bluegrass, appearing at the late, late showcases and jamming like maniacs even later into the night and early morning.
It wasn't exactly a buzz, but people in the know just knew something was afoot.
